Attitudes Which Help Us Grow

A Sermon on Joshua 13-19 by Pastor Allan Santos

Watch the sermon here.

Introduction

The Lord has been faithful to the Israelites as they fought their battles and conquered the Promised Land. As the Israelites started to settle in the land of Canaan, the Lord affirmed to Joshua that he is advanced in years and there are still land to possess. Joshua chapters 13 to 19 will describe to us why Israel failed to posses all that God had promised.

Outline

  1. God’s charge and command to Joshua to divide the Land. (Joshua 13:1-7)

  2. Caleb’s strong faith and obedience to God (Joshua 14:6-15)

  3. The People of Joseph’s complaints and ungratefulness (Joshua 17:14-18)

  4. The Israelites’ half-hearted commitment caused them not to conquer the Promised Land entirely. (Joshua 17:12-13; Exodus 23:20-33)

Life Application

  1. Israelites’ faith started to diminish after experiencing all their victories and successes. The faith that started strong was unable to finish. They did not fully obey the commands of the Lord. This is the reason why the Lord did not allow them to conquer the whole land of Israel. Let us all commit to obey God unceasingly and consistently even if His plan and purpose seem challenging and full of difficulties. Challenges and difficulties in life will help us grow and depend more in the Lord.

  2. Joshua and Caleb’s commitment and undying submission to God’s will permitted them to experience God’s protection and successes in every battle that they fought. May you continue to grow and mature in your Christian life as you choose to live and serve the Lord.
