Introduction
While encouragement means to put strength into the other person, biblical encouragement goes further. Biblical encouragement is about putting strength into the other in God’s direction. Biblical encouragement moves us into using our gifts, moves us into our purpose, spurs us towards love and good deeds, solidifies our confidence in the hope we have in Christ.
Paul says, “If you have any encouragement from being united with Christ” and the rhetorical assumption is that you do.At the foundation of being united with Christ is encouragement. Now, where does this foundation of Christ’s encouragement lead us? If we are living through the lens of Christ’s encouragement what does that encouragement lead us to do?
