Introduction

Are you tired and exhausted of the battle(s) in life that you are facing today?  Do you believe that the Lord will give you the strength and empowerment that you need as you deal with these challenges and problems?  I am convinced that the Lord is faithful and will never be tired of guiding and giving us help in times of crisis and struggles.

Let us revisit how David won the battle against the giant Goliath and let us be reminded how the Lord helps and delivers His children from adversities, no matter how big or small they are.

Outline

  1. David refused to bow down to discouragement, disapproval and doubt he encountered (vv.10-11, 28, 33)

  2. David remembered how God safeguarded him in the past (vv.34-36)

  3. David depended on God-given tools and provisions in his battle (vv.39-40)

  4. David acknowledged and professed God’s sovereignty (vv.45-47)

  5. David won the battle with God’s power (vv.49-51)

Life Application

  1. David was aware that Goliath is big. But he knew his God is bigger and more powerful than anyone. It was his deep faith in God that gave him courage and strength to fight the biggest adversity his nation was facing at that time.

  2. Always remember to depend on and trust in the Lord when you are facing a difficult battle in your life. Allow God to prune your weaknesses and unhealthy ways in handling problems and difficulties in life.

  3. Remember that your weapons in your battles are your faith, knowledge of the scriptures, your obedience to God’s commandments, and His truth.
