Pleasing God in our Daily Living
A Sermon on Ephesians 4:17-5:20 by Pastor Allan Santos

Introduction
Are you a people-pleaser willing to do everything just to be accepted and appreciated by others? Pleasing others will not give you a meaningful life, but many regrets and disappointments. As God’s children, our aim is to please Him in our daily lives. This will result in us experiencing completeness, contentment, and peace in our lives.
When we received Jesus Christ, we were born again, we became members of God’s household, and we became totally different people. The Apostle Paul exhorted the Ephesian Church to put off the behaviors of their former lives that were incompatible with their new life in Christ. He then gave instructions in Chapter 5 to walk in God’s love, light, and wisdom as “new creations”. By doing so, we will please and honor Him in our journey in this life.
Outline
We can solve conflicts if we put off the behaviors of our old selves and put on the characters of our new nature. (Eph. 4:17-24)
We could have a peaceful life if we put godliness into practice, as new creations in Christ. (Ephesians 4:25-32)
We should walk in love to please God. (Ephesians 5:1-2)
We should avoid the sinful ways of this world to please God. (Ephesians 5:3-14)
We should walk in the wisdom that God provides. (Ephesians 5:15-20)
Life Applications
Let us walk wisely as true followers of Christ by avoiding the dangers and sinfulness that this world is influencing us. May we ask for God’s leading as we discern the things that He would like us to do and how to take advantage of the opportunities that He is leading and giving us.
May we glorify the Lord in our lives by demonstrating our unwavering obedience to Him. (1 Peter 1:14-16)
The Lord commanded us to walk wisely and be fruitful in this world because people are observing how we behave and conduct ourselves in this challenging world. We need to walk wisely because we represent the Lord in our daily lives. We are to shine as lights to lead those in darkness toward the light of Jesus.
