Introduction
Are you ready to celebrate and praise Jesus this Christmas season? Not just marking the occasion of Christmas and going through traditions and expectations, but truly celebrating with your eyes wide open in awe, your heart bursting with excitement and joy, and your body vibrating in anticipation of all that is about to happen?
As Mary and Elizabeth greet one another, they experience this kind of celebration. In Elizabeth’s womb, John leaps with joy, and Mary bursts into a song worthy of the most enthusiastic musical. This Spirit-inspired celebration and praise was founded on a deep belief that God’s long awaited promises were about to be accomplished, and today we are invited to join that celebration in anticipation of what he is going to do again!
Outline:
Mary leaves home to visit Elizabeth and share her news (Luke 1:39-41)
Elizabeth realizes that God is present with them (Luke 1:42-45)
Mary realizes the enormity of Gabriel’s message to her (Luke 1:46-55)
Mary and Elizabeth plan for the ongoing celebration (Luke 1:56)
Life Lessons:
Celebration and praise start from within as God does his work inside of us
Celebration and praise need to be shared with others
Celebration and praise should not be not circumstantial but rooted in what God has done, is doing, and will one day do
