A Life Dedicated in Worship

A Sermon on Revelation 4-5 by Pastor Allan Santos

Introduction

True worship is our desire to honor, love, and submit ourselves to God. In worship, we praise God by singing and declaring His sovereignty, love, and grace to us and by spending time studying His words so we could hear from the Scriptures His glory and His message and commands to us. The Apostle John witnessed the glory and power of the Lord in the heavenly realms. During the writing of the book of Revelation, the early Christians were living in a world where evil was rampant and seemingly all-powerful.  However, the Apostle John encouraged the believers that God is in control of all things, and He is worthy of our true worship even amid troubles, persecutions, and uncertainties in life.

Outline

  1. We worship the Lord because of His perfect authority (Rev. 4:1-6)

  2. We worship the Lord because of His flawless righteousness (Rev. 4:7-8)

  3. We worship the Lord because of His magnificent work of creation (Rev. 4:9-11)

  4. We worship Jesus because He is sovereign and worthy of our worship (Rev. 5:1-10)

  5. The magnificent, powerful, and awe-inspiring worship in heaven (Rev.5:11-14)

Life Application

  1. True worship of God involves our humble heart and complete surrender to Him. You cannot truly worship God unless you are willing to surrender everything you are and everything you have to Him.

  2.  In the throne room, the four living creatures proclaimed praise to God and as they do, the 24 elders fell face forward to the ground in humble adoration, giving God glory. Casting their crowns to God is showing that they do not desire any glory for themselves. They realized that all glory goes to God, who is seated on the throne and who lives forever and ever. They worshipped God for His creation and because they too are part of His creation. Have you ever thanked and worshipped God because He made you?

  3.  The wisest thing anyone can ever do is to surrender to the lordship of Jesus Christ.  Call upon Jesus today. Repent from your sins and turn to Jesus. Ask Him to forgive you of your sins and acknowledge Him as Lord of your life.
