Watch the sermon here.

Introduction

As God’s servants, we must be watchful of our spiritual growth. It is essential for us to grow in the knowledge of God’s Word and at the same time, in applying it in our daily living. The Apostle Paul in the Book of 1 Timothy gave encouragement and instructions to Timothy on how to be a faithful example in his life and ministry as God’s servant. He exhorted Timothy to persevere in his godliness, service, spiritual growth, and commitment to the Lord.  Let us reflect on the instructions that the Apostle Paul gave to Timothy for him to flourish more in his spiritual growth as God’s servant.

Outline

  1. A faithful servant will not depart from the faith and sound doctrine (vv.1-6)

  2. A faithful servant is committed to pursuing godliness (vv.7-10)

  3. A faithful servant diligently watches his speech, conduct, love, faith, and purity (v.12)

  4. A faithful servant values God’s Word in his/her life. (v.13)

  5. A faithful servant uses his/her spiritual gifts for God’s glory (v.14)

  6. A faithful servant pays attention to his/her life and teaching (v.16)

Applying God’s Word:

  1. As God’s servants, we must know how to identify, safeguard, and handle the wrong teachings that this world is giving us today.  Let us stand with the teaching of God’s Word in our daily living and practices.

  2. May we all nurture and use our God-given spiritual gifts to minister and encourage others to have a meaningful and fruitful life. Let us not waste our time and resources with things that are earthly and will lead us to sin.

  3. Let us be on guard with our speech, conduct, love, faith and purity so that our family, brethren, co-workers and friends will be encouraged to know Jesus, who is the reason why we are pursuing to live a godly life.
