Committed to Discipleship

A Sermon on 1 Thessalonians 2 by Pastor Allan Santos

Watch the sermon here.

Introduction

We, as believers, were called to “make disciples of all nations” (Matthew 28:18-20). These were the last words of Jesus Christ before He ascended to heaven. The Apostle Paul gave us an inspiring model on how to train and encourage others to grow in their Christian faith and life. He also exhorted Timothy to train faithful men who would in turn train others in disciple-making. May we all be encouraged and challenged by how Paul, Silvanus, and Timothy invested their time, efforts, and resources in making disciples and encouraging others to believe and have faith in Jesus.

Outline

  1. Dedicate your life to sharing the gospel and helping people to grow in the knowledge and love of the Lord. (vv.1-8)

  2. Be committed to building and encouraging others for the Lord. (vv.9-12)

  3. Encourage disciples to place their hope in the Lord even in persecutions and challenges of life. (vv.13-20)

Life Application

  1. Allow the Lord to use your life in disciple-making. Think of ways that you could encourage and build the faith of people around you.

  2. Be strong and take courage in serving the Lord even in challenging and difficult times.

  3.  People will remember how we lived and conducted ourselves as a disciple of Jesus. So let us be aware of how we talk, behave, and manage ourselves publicly and privately.
