Watch the sermon here.

Introduction

In the Gospels, Jesus gave a long sermon on a mountain where He taught timeless principles that will be our guide as we travel in this complicated world. Tonight, we will revisit Jesus’s teachings on how we should be loyal to God in the use of our possessions, for His purpose and glory.

Outline

  1. Devote your heart, possessions and efforts to things that have eternal value. (vv.19-21)

  2. Disconnect yourself from the influence of worldly viewpoint. (vv.22-23)

  3. Choose and serve the Lord rather than earthly treasures. (v.24)

Life Lessons

  1. As God’s children may we focus our heart and spiritual eyes on the things of God, not on the things of this world. If there’s anything that’s keeping you from seeing clearly with your spiritual eye, clear it out.

  2. Do not be greedy for material possessions that will lead you to turn away from the Lord.

  3. Be a good steward of the treasures God has entrusted to you and honor the Lord with your money, time, and energy.
