Samuel’s name means “Heard by God” in Hebrew, and this is so true in his life. He listened to God’s voice, and he willingly submitted to it. As a child, he responded to God’s call with unswerving obedience.

Hannah was a great example of a life that was wholeheartedly committed to God despite the pain, rejection, and suffering she encountered. She stood brave and trusted God’s power, love, and sovereignty, that is why she experienced God’s blessings and workings in her life.

When we were born again and given the gift of the Holy Spirit, we were enabled to obey the commands of Jesus in this sermon and live out an ordinary radical lifestyle by His power and grace.

This Passage will help us understand that Jesus desires us to have relationships that are meaningful, truthful, and God-glorifying. Let us reflect on and unpack Jesus’ teachings that will help us evaluate our standing before God and our heart toward others.

“Do not think that I have come to abolish the Law or the Prophets; I have not come to abolish them but to fulfil them.”

Jesus is alive and He is our risen King and Savior! Jesus came to this earth with a message of love, forgiveness, and hope.

Biblical encouragement moves us into using our gifts, moves us into our purpose, spurs us towards love and good deeds, solidifies our confidence in the hope we have in Christ.

The beatitudes introduce the sermon on the mount, a collection of Jesus’ teachings. These teachings of Jesus are a must for all of us - we need to obey them as Jesus modeled it to us in His life in the gospels.

Tonight, we will revisit Jesus’s teachings on how we should be loyal to God in the use of our possessions, for His purpose and glory.

The Apostle Paul gave an encouraging counsel to us in Ephesians chapter 5 to choose love, to guard ourselves against contamination by this sinful world and to walk in light and wisdom that God is giving us every day.

In the last chapter of Joshua, God’s love, protection, and power had taken hold of the hearts of the Israelites. As a result, they served God out of devotion and love.

Chapter 23 of the Book of Joshua will give us a portrait of Joshua’s last exhortation to his people to remain faithful and loyal to God.

The Lord has been faithful to the Israelites as they fought their battles and conquered the Promised Land. As the Israelites started to settle in the land of Canaan, the Lord affirmed to Joshua that he is advanced in years and there are still land to possess. Joshua chapters 13 to 19 will describe to us why Israel failed to posses all that God had promised.

Love that glorifies God is love that grows out of faithfulness to God’s original creation purposes for man and woman.

Joshua and the Israelites have learned to trust the Lord wholeheartedly as they conquer the Promised Land. Because of their trust and obedience, the Lord allowed them to witness His power and protection that led to their victories.

In the story so far, the Israelites have everything going in their favor. Chapter 1 through 6 of the book of Joshua highlights their victories. Chapter 7 poses a different mood. Here for the first time, Israel suffered defeat.

In our study today, we will see that Joshua and the people of Israel had finally crossed the Jordan River to start their journey in following the will of the Lord. Let us observe and witness how the Lord guided them to victory.
