Samuel’s name means “Heard by God” in Hebrew, and this is so true in his life. He listened to God’s voice, and he willingly submitted to it. As a child, he responded to God’s call with unswerving obedience.

The Lord has been faithful to the Israelites as they fought their battles and conquered the Promised Land. As the Israelites started to settle in the land of Canaan, the Lord affirmed to Joshua that he is advanced in years and there are still land to possess. Joshua chapters 13 to 19 will describe to us why Israel failed to posses all that God had promised.

Love that glorifies God is love that grows out of faithfulness to God’s original creation purposes for man and woman.
Learning to Trust God
Joshua and the Israelites have learned to trust the Lord wholeheartedly as they conquer the Promised Land. Because of their trust and obedience, the Lord allowed them to witness His power and protection that led to their victories.
Defeat, Confession, and Victory
In the story so far, the Israelites have everything going in their favor. Chapter 1 through 6 of the book of Joshua highlights their victories. Chapter 7 poses a different mood. Here for the first time, Israel suffered defeat.
Claiming God’s Victories
In our study today, we will see that Joshua and the people of Israel had finally crossed the Jordan River to start their journey in following the will of the Lord. Let us observe and witness how the Lord guided them to victory.
